A Quickie Post on Humility
Can you imagine the CEO of a large corporation telling the facilities manager, “Oh, that corner office–nah, I’m good. I’ll just grab a cubicle on the floor”? Or, the greatest football player who every team wants decides to forfeit his multi-billion dollar contract and work for free? As you climb the ladder of what we define on earth as success, remember Jesus! He is God. He came to the earth, but did not live in a fine palace and have a Bentley chariot with driver. He had followers, but if He was alive today, He wouldn’t set up an Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook account boasting of all the riches He had in Heaven. He was humble. Aren’t we much lower on the food chain than Him? So, we should follow His example of humility.
Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
